About Sara Jacoby

Landscape Design

A Sustainable Approach

At Sara Jacoby Landscape Design, our design philosophy is client centered. We search for the balance between aesthetics, site, architecture, and available resources while taking client needs into consideration at all stages. We specify materials and construction techniques to ensure coherent and sustainable spaces, adding efficiency and value to the property. The landscape should give a place an intangible quality, a welcoming and inviting feeling, capturing the uniqueness of a site while remaining functional.

Rooted in the Southwest

Being several generations native to the Sonoran desert, the unique natural phenomena of the region was engrained in Sara at a young age. After spending many hours in the backyard tree as a child, she went on to study Horticulture at Texas A&M, earning a BS degree, with an emphasis in Urban Horticulture. While working at the acclaimed Antique Rose Emporium’s large retail and display garden in Independence, TX her education about the importance of plant selection grew.

With horticultural experience to tap into, she was offered a landscape designer position at one of the top Los Angeles Landscape Architecture firms, LRM, ltd. It was there that she learned more about the how the built environment affected the living landscape. She finally returned to the desert to gain further regional landscape architecture experience.

Education & Professional Development

In an effort to fulfill the growing need for green spaces in the urban environment, Sara Jacoby became an ISA Certified Arborist (WE-6908A) in 2003, launched Sara Jacoby Landscape Design in 2005, and became a Registered Landscape Architect (AZ License No. 49568) in 2009.

Giving Back

One of Sara's passions is to share the profession with others in the community by participating in local tree projects, community gardens, and beautification projects by local non-profits and landscape industry organizations.
